Mikel Obi blasted by Martin O'Neil over comments

Mikel Obi recently graced the airwaves of TalkSport radio, delving into the formidable dynamics within Chelsea's dressing room and their role in orchestrating Rafa Benitez's departure in 2013.

The erstwhile Blues midfielder, a pivotal figure during his 11-year tenure at Stamford Bridge, joined forces with iconic teammates Terry, Frank Lampard, and Didier Drogba in a star-studded ensemble. Mikel's illustrious journey at Chelsea encompassed two Premier League triumphs, a Champions League victory, a Europa League title, four FA Cups, and two League Cups.

In a candid conversation on TalkSport, Mikel Obi disclosed the discord between the Chelsea players and Rafa Benitez, leading to his eventual ousting.

"We made it abundantly clear. While Liverpool was undoubtedly a significant rival, there was a palpable disapproval of Rafa among the fans as well. There was something about Rafa that the fans, much like the players, couldn't embrace."

Martin O'Neil, former Villa and Celtic manager, responded critically to Obi's revelations.

"Regardless of personal feelings towards the manager, a player's primary responsibility is to perform on the field. I acknowledge the presence of strong egos at Chelsea due to consistent success, but players must fulfill their professional duties."
